What is an Offcut?
An offcut is the bit you didn't need. You cut the part you wanted, and there is always something left over. A stub of ash. A strip of carbon that was slightly too short to matter. Half a sheet of aluminium with one good bend already in it. In theory you throw it out. In practice you put it on the shelf, because binning good material feels wrong, and because you tell yourself you will use it for something. You almost never do. The shelf fills up anyway.
