ANCHOR

Anchor was a one-day project for aboutarchivio. One day, idea to prototype, using only what I had lying around the apartment.

It's a pen you wear on your finger. A rotating arm swings it between writing and resting, so the pen stays on your hand and never gets put down. The gap between writing something and living the rest of your day, gone.

The prototype was held together with whatever was in reach, and it showed. That is what happens when the material is "whatever is at home." Small problems everywhere, and to this day I am not sure my girlfriend knows where half her turquoise nail polish went.

Somehow it worked anyway. Anchor got picked to show in Shanghai during design week, then came back to show at Milano Design Week too. Not bad for an afternoon and some borrowed nail polish.

I like these. A fast project for the fun of it, and aboutarchivio

run exactly the kind of competition that makes them worth doing.

What is an Offcut?

An offcut is the bit you didn't need. You cut the part you wanted, and there is always something left over. A stub of ash. A strip of carbon that was slightly too short to matter. Half a sheet of alum
