Mortise
A sideboard defined by structural legibility. The design makes joinery the primary visual language rather than hiding it behind decorative surfaces. Walnut veneer was selected for its warmth and figure, while solid ash provides structural rigidity for exposed joinery elements.

About the product
Most casework buries its joinery. Mortise does the opposite. Solid ash legs meet the case through exposed mortise-and-tenon connections, so the structure reads as the ornament. Walnut veneer covers the surfaces. It received a special mention in the student category at IDEAS4WOOD in 2026.
